SNEAK PEEK: Buddha’s Book of Sleep

BUDDHA’S BOOK OF SLEEP is the first book to treat sleep disorders from the perspective of mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness meditation has already proven effective for other psychological issues like stress, depression and anxiety–the very issues that cause sleep difficulties.

Packed with meditation exercises and useful information on why meditation works, BUDDHA’S BOOK OF SLEEP gives us a new perspective on why we can’t fall asleep (even when we’re exhausted). It arms us with easy to use tools from meditation practices that help us calm our hurried thoughts and rest easy.

Curious? Read an excerpt from the book below or order BUDDHA’S BOOK OF SLEEP in print or as an enhanced e-book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Indiebound.

If You Find It Difficult to Stop Angry Thoughts, Here Are a Few Suggestions:

  1. Concentrate on the breath to take your mind off your thoughts. In the second part of this book, the first exercise, Calming the Mind, will take you through the steps. If you do this exercise as recommended, you may find that the anger has subsided and the mind is calmer.
  2. Use the opposite emotion to drive out anger. The opposite of anger is loving kindness. Just one drop of compassion can be enough to bring back spring in our hearts.
  3. Are you angry with your teenage son? Research suggests that the teenage brain is not fully developed. Your son has an incomplete brain. It is harder to be angry with a handicapped person. Thinking of him as handicapped may be the drop of compassion you need to derail your anger.
